Constance Friedman is founder and managing partner of Moderne Ventures. She is a board observer at Porch. She is an advisor at Nova (financial software) and Abound. She is also a board member of Aerwave. Prior to launching Moderne, she was head of strategic investments at the National Association of Realtors (NAR), where she launched and managed the investment arm, Second Century Ventures (SCV), and founded the “gas pedal” program, REach, in 2009 and 2013, respectively. During her time at NAR, she invested in more than 30 technology companies and helped bring them to market in real estate and beyond. She has been active on the boards of several companies, including DocuSign, Updater, Ifbyphone and Xceligent. She came to Second Century Ventures with a background in venture capital, technology and real estate. Prior to SCV, she was an investor at Cue Ball, an early- and growth-stage investment fund focused on the information services and consumer sectors. She began her career after spending 7 years in an operations role at technology startups Molecular (backed by CMGI, acquired by Isobar) and Account4.com (acquired by Lawson). Prior to her career in technology, she was a practicing real estate agent for three years. In 2014, Constance was recognized by Crain’s Business in the prestigious “40 Under 40” category and was named to Crain’s Chicago Top Tech 50 list. In 2014 and 2015, she was also recognized as one of the 200 most influential people in residential real estate by Swanopoel’s Power 200. From 2010-2013, she served on the advisory board of the National Venture Capital Association’s Corporate Venture Group and is a member of the board of observers for the nonprofit organization Above. She holds a BA from Boston University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a board member of ICON and UrbanBound. She is also a board observer for TaskEasy, Porch, Hello Alfred, HomeSnap, Super and LeaseLock.
