Edward Roberts is an angel investor at Ed Roberts. Dr. Roberts has served as a professor of management technology at MIT Delta V. He is the founder and chairman of the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is an expert in advanced technology management and entrepreneurship, a serial high-tech entrepreneur, and a leading angel investor. His own entrepreneurship is as active in academia as it is in industry. Under the guidance of Professor Jay Forrester, Roberts co-founded the Systems Dynamics Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958. In 1990, he founded the MIT Center for Entrepreneurship (now renamed the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship), which he has headed ever since. He was the founder of the Technology Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Group at MIT Sloan, which he led for more than 30 years. In the 1970s, Professor Roberts co-founded several of MIT’s health care programs, including the interdisciplinary doctoral program in health care policy and management. During this time, he co-directed MIT’s extensive management and organizational development collaboration with the Association of American Medical Colleges. In 1980, Roberts co-founded and led the MIT Management of Technology (MOT) program, MIT’s first professional development program offered by the two schools, for nearly 20 years. Most recently, in 2006, he co-founded and still directs the MIT Sloan Entrepreneurship & Innovation MBA Track. Roberts holds four degrees from MIT: SB and SM in Electrical Engineering, SM in Management and PhD in Economics.
