Eric Moore is a co-founder and Managing Director at Base Ventures. He has served on the board of directors of WithMe. He is a board observer at Surf Air and Pigeonly. He is a passionate angel investor, entrepreneur, creative thinker and an incorrigible optimist. He has served on the board of directors at Wildfang. After a fruitful fifteen-year career in investment banking, Eric took early retirement from Merrill Lynch in 2011, at which point he began entrepreneurship. He co-founded FlickLaunch.com, Facebook’s new digital streaming platform for feature films. He created Rule LX, a successful special purpose investment fund offering unique, discrete investment opportunities. Base Ventures has taken the success of Rule LX to heart. Eric created Base Ventures out of a love of investing in cutting-edge technology startups. Over the past 12 years, Eric has invested in nearly two dozen cutting-edge startups. He has always believed in the powerful magic of human potential. Eric was an original investor in Zappos.com, which was sold to Amazon for $1.2 billion, and Agencourt Biosciences, which was sold to Beckman Coulter for $270 million. Eric is actively involved in the community. He currently serves on the board of the East Bay College Fund, whose mission is to help resilient Oakland youth, historically underrepresented in higher education, go to college and expand their life opportunities. He has served on the board of Morrisania West, an organization dedicated to at-risk children in Western Addition, SF. Eric also served on the board of Oakland’s OK (Our Kids) program, which promoted partnerships between police, schools, and the community to help prevent children from entering the juvenile system. He co-founded Concentric Circles, an organization that provides informal mentoring and teaches yoga principles to teens in the juvenile system and those recently released from juvenile detention. Finally, Eric is a former trustee of St. Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, his alma mater, where he graduated with honors, taught French during the summer and was captain of the soccer team for two years. Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a double major in undergraduate studies – a master’s degree from the Wharton School and a master’s degree in international studies – French from the Lauder Institute for Management and International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
