Jean-Francois Clavier is founder and managing partner of Uncork Capital. He is on the board of directors of Loft Orbital, Messari and Arch Systems. As one of the first angel investors in Web 2.0, Mr. Clavier and his team have backed such successful startups as Mint (Intuit), Kongregate (GameStop), Brightroll (Yahoo), LiveRamp (Acxiom), Milo (eBay), Wildfire (Google), Bleacher Report (Turner), Gnip (Twitter), Fitbit (NYSE: FIT), Eventbrite, Sendgrid, Poshmark, Hired and Vungle. The portfolio also included acquisitions of Groupon, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo and AOL. Born, raised and educated in France, Jeff graduated with a master’s degree in CS. While still in school, he joined the fintech startup Effix as one of its first developers and then led it as CTO. Five years later the company was acquired by Reuters, and Jeff expanded his expertise to several product and development organizations in Europe and the US. In 2000, he moved to Silicon Valley as a general partner of RVC, Reuters’ $450 million venture capital fund. In 2015, Jeff was appointed to the board of the National Venture Capital Association with a 4-year mandate. In Uncork’s portfolio, he serves on the boards of Arch Systems, DocSend, Intermix, Pi Charging, Scroll and other stealth companies. He is a veteran of the Forbes Midas List of the World’s Best Venture Capitalists. One of the first venture bloggers in 2004, Jeff is now a popular conference speaker and commentator on social media and television.
