John Doerr

John Doerr is a member of the board of directors and a member of the Leadership Development and Compensation Committee at Alphabet. Mr. John Doerr is chairman of the advisory board and a managing member of Kleiner Perkins. He is a member of the board of directors of Flipboard. He is a co-founder of Glass Collective. He is vice president of the Benificus Foundation. He has served on the board of directors of Bloom Energy. Doerr is on the board of directors of Truecaller, BetterWorks and DoorDash. He is also on the board of directors of Asapp. He is a member of the board of directors of Bloom Energy. He is also a board member of Breakthrough Energy Ventures. He has served on the board of directors of Shyp. He is an advisor at Tempus. He is a board member and member of the Leadership Development and Compensation Committee at Alphabet. He joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 1980 and has since supported some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, including Larry Page, Sergey Brin and Eric Schmidt of Google, Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, Scott Cook and Bill Campbell of Intuit. His passion is helping entrepreneurs create the “next big things” in mobile and social media, Greentech innovation, education and economic development. The venture capital projects he has sponsored have created more than 200,000 new jobs. He serves on the boards of Amyris, Google and Zynga, as well as several private technology ventures. He also led KPCB’s investment in Twitter. His career in technology began at Intel in 1974, right around the time the chip maker invented the revolutionary 8080 microprocessor. During his years at Intel, he held positions as an engineer, marketer, manager and salesman. He also learned about operational excellence from Intel co-founder Andy Grove, which he still shares with entrepreneurs today. These include NewSchools.org, TechNet.org, Climate Reality Project and ONE.org. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Rice University and a master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School. He also holds several patents for computer memory devices. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of President Barack Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. He is a co-founder and board member of NewSchools Venture Fund. He is a member of the board of Essence Group Holdings. He is also an angel investor. He was a member of the board of directors at QuantumScape. He was a member of Tradesy’s board of directors.
