Lars Fjeldsoe-Nielsen is founding partner of venture firm 2xN. He was previously general partner at Balderton Capital in London from 2015 to 2021 deploying four funds including Revolut at seed and series A. He joined Balderton after a decade in Silicon Valley, where he worked at Uber, Dropbox as part of the founding teams and WhatsApp. Lars joined Uber when the company was operating in fewer than 20 cities. As vice president at Uber, he was responsible for worldwide strategic alliances. Prior to Uber, Lars joined Dropbox as one of the company’s first 25 employees. As head of mobile, he negotiated business expansion deals with Samsung and other mobile device makers, bringing the file-sharing company to its first 100 million users. Lars has also held positions at Voicesignal (acq Nuance), Skyhook Wireless (acq TruePosition), Ness Technologies (acq Opentable), 3Jam (acq Skype), and T9 Tegic (acq AOL). More than a billion people have used the software and services distributed due to Lars-led mobile development partnerships. In his executive career to date, five companies he worked for were acquired, and two became lPOs (Uber and Dropbox). His career as an investor includes leading investments in Yassir (Bond capital), Voi (Raine), Labster (A16Z), Hiya (Ericsson), Cambridge Quantum Computing (HON), Hopin (A16Z), Opensea (A16Z), Beacon (Eric Schmidt), Dubsmash (Acq. Reddit), Tempow (Acq. Google), The Oorg (Sequoia), Octant (A16Z), Zycada (Khosla), Monarch Money (Accel) and Kukua (Tencent). Lars now lives in London and is of Danish-Portuguese/ Angolan descent. He grew up in Africa and served in the Royal Danish Guard. He holds an MBA from London Business School and sits on the Board of Trustees, an MSc from Keble College, Oxford University, and a BA from King’s College London. He’s the inventor or four patents including most recently a genetically modified mosquito to combat malaria. His angel investments are sourced mainly from founders he has backed previously or colleagues from the past two decades.
