Shaun Abrahamson co-founded and serves as Managing Partner at Third Sphere. He serves as an advisor at Oonee. He is a co-founder of Urban-X. He is also a board member of Cove.Tool. Prior to Urban Us, he was an active angel investor, having invested in more than 20 companies between 2007 and 2013, including ZocDoc, Trialpay (acquired by Visa), Refinery29, Skycatch and Tonx (acquired by Blue Bottle Coffee). His early-stage investing and consulting experience was based on his experiences building MediaSentry (acquired by SafeNet in 2005), Starmedia Network (acquired by France Telecom), govWorks (about which the 2001 documentary Startup.com was made) and Oculus (a spin-off of MIT CADLab). He has written for such organizations as The Economist Intelligence Unit, The Huffington Post and CNNMoney, and has taught classes at Wharton, NYU and the Booth School of the University of Chicago. Crowdstorm, his first book, is a guide to working with large online crowds to find and evaluate ideas. The book is the result of his experience leading open innovation projects in the U.S., the European Union and Latin America for clients such as Starbucks, Omnicom Group, $300 House and Life Edited, as well as for companies from LEGO to GE. He holds a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he focused on computer-aided design, an MBA from the Berlin School for Creative Leadership, where he researched online collaboration, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town.
