Stephan Paternott is a general partner at Actarus Funds. He co-founded PalmStar. He is co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Slated. He is currently co-founder and CEO of Slated, an online entertainment industry marketplace that allows introductions to projects, talent, funding and sales. Stephan is also the founder and general partner of Actarus Funds. Founded in 2002, these angel funds have supported companies such as LendingClub, SecondMarket, Indiegogo, AngelList and many others. Before that, he co-founded one of the first online community sites, theglobe.com in 1994. The company made stock market history by going public in 1998 with a record-breaking IPO that brought the company’s value to more than $1 billion. Within six years, the company grew to more than 300 employees, and the site became one of the thirty most visited sites in the world, with about 10% of all Internet users visiting the site each month. In 1999 Stephan received the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young, and in 2001 he published “A Very Public Offer,” a nonfiction business book detailing his experience at theglobe.com. Prior to founding the company, Stephan attended Cornell University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Stephan grew up in Switzerland and the UK before attending college in the US. In addition to his work at Actarus Funds, Stephan serves on the board of directors of the Heineman Foundation, based in New York City, and on the board of directors of its sister organization, the Heineman-Stiftung, based in Berlin. The purpose of the foundations is to provide financial support to educational, artistic, charitable and scientific non-profit institutions. Stephan resides in Los Angeles.
