Tabriz Verjee is a co-founder and partner of Uprising. He is also a member of the board of directors of Kiva Microfunds. He is also a board member of Devoted Health. Tabriz began his career at Bain & Company and left there to co-found a boutique finance company that raised $150 million in innovative media financing and completed landmark deals, including a $30 million securitization of music royalties for heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He then moved into technology and the Internet, where he helped Sonique become the fifth most downloaded app on the Internet in 1999 and led its sale for more than $70 million. After Sonique, Tabriz co-founded Global Asset Capital, a startup incubation and angel investment firm that grew into a $500 million venture capital firm with more than 40 portfolio companies in the United States and Europe in six years.
